York St. John University, Creative Centre case study: Connecting the campus using a low carbon, flexible building

The Creative Centre is a central pillar of York St. John University’s ambitious growth plans. It brings together a diverse student population and combines creative arts learning, research and practice together in one building for the first time. It also encapsulates the University’s ambitions for sustainability; the building is the centrepiece of a phased landscape-led transformation of the campus to create a more biodiverse quarter for the City of York. There will be presentations from Nick Coakley, Director of Estates at York St. John University, who will share how the building has transformed the Lord Mayor’s Walk campus as well as shaping plans for the future. There will also be a presentation from Andy Baker-Falkner, Director at Tate+Co Architects describing the journey from design to delivery and all the lessons learnt along the way.

What to expect from the event – Attendees will hear how York St. John University are undergoing a transformation of their Lord Mayor’s Walk Campus and leveraging their proximity to the heritage of York to elevate the student experience. At the heart of this is the new Creative Centre, attendees can expect a deep-dive into the design process and all the lessons learnt along the way!
