UDF BondBryan:Fairhursts 'Net-Walking' Summer Hike
Location: Edale Peak District
Heading to Edale in the Hope Valley and led by the team at Freshwalks, the 12.5km route will ascend the iconic Kinder Scout (max elevation 633m) which offers fabulous panoramic views of the Vale of Edale and back towards the Manchester city skyline.
The proposed route does involve quite a bit of uphill walking (total ascent 570m) for about the first hour or so of the day but we will make sure to take things easy, ensuring there is enough time to enjoy the views and each other’s company. At the end of the hike, the group will visit The Rambler Inn for some refreshments to celebrate the shared achievement.
Those wishing to leave the car at home can take the 08:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly which arrives in Edale 09:32 or the 09:14 train from Sheffield which arrives in Edale 09:46. Dogs will be welcome though ought to be kept on leads. It promises to be a rewarding day in so many ways and we do hope you can make it.

The Bond Bryan:Fairhurst team are proudly sponsoring the UDF Summer Hike. All tickets sales will be donated to the Throat Cancer Foundation. Founded in 2012, the charity is dedicated to raising awareness of cancers affecting the head, mouth, and neck - some of the fastest growing cancers in the UK today. Their work focuses on prevention, patient support, and campaigning for better care and access to life-saving HPV vaccinations. Their mission aligns closely with our values, especially following the recent diagnosis of our former colleague Jeff Stibbons, whose experience has brought the urgency of this cause close to home. The Foundation works tirelessly to:
- Raise awareness and promote early diagnosis
- Support patients and carers with vital information and resources
- Advocate for consistent, high-quality care for all
- Fund research into better treatments and quality of life post-cancer
- Campaign for universal, gender-neutral HPV vaccination
By supporting the Throat Cancer Foundation, we hope to raise vital funds, spread awareness, and stand with everyone affected by this often-overlooked disease.
UDF thanks Freshwalks and BondBryan:Fairhursts for kindly supporting this event.
