Congratulations to Hanif Kara OBE

HEDQF was delighted to hear the news that Hanif Kara, a Co-Founding Partner of AKT II Structural Engineers who are HEDQF Founder Members, was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for services to architecture, engineering and education.

Kara was born in Bombo, Uganda and at the age of thirteen moved to the UK. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Honorary fellow of the RIBA, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has worked with the best architects in the world and is a member of the board of trustees for the Architecture Foundation and was a commissioner for CABE from 2008 to 2011 (Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment). He is currently Professor in Practice of Architectural Technology at Harvard Graduate School of Design. He also taught as professor of Architectural Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm from 2009 until 2012. 

Hanif and his colleagues at AKT II have completed many high profile and award winning projects for universities both in the UK and abroad and we would like to extend our warmest congratulations on this very well deserved honour.
