We’re back with our first building of the month for 2024, Semnan University Library, Iran as portrayed by Bill Hunt, UDF Artist in Residence.

The building contains a 1000-seat central auditorium, two 200- and 150-seat training halls, meeting rooms, a central library, a university documentation centre and a café.

The overall design was inspired by traditional Iranian motifs in the intricate openings and ribbons on the facades of the building, reflecting the cultural and artistic heritage of Iran. The irregular openings bring in natural light into the interior of the building and provide natural ventilation.

The interior scheme features a turquoise colour (Persian Blue) is inspired by Iranian traditional art.
